First Wednesdays of the month are typically reserved for Storycraft, a story and related take-home craft usually completed in about twenty minutes! Our next Storycraft is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7th, at 4:30 p.m., and is harvest / Thanksgiving themed. We will read a Thanksgiving story and make a simple Indian-corn craft with colored construction paper, lots of glue, and various dried beans for the kernels of corn (small picture at right).

Leaf Through a Fall Book!
Fall is such a great time of year. The unrelenting heat of summer is gone, we throw open the windows and breathe in fresh air, pumpkins begin to proliferate on porches and front steps, beautiful yellow and wine-red cushion mums appear at the local nursery, and the leaves on the trees begin to change and tumble to the ground.
October also always means there’s a boost in children’s book circulation, and it’s not just Halloween that kids are interested in. Any book on a fall theme is bound to be checked out as soon as it is put on display. Enjoy the season and consider taking home one of the following titles:
Toddler:
I Know It’s Autumn / Eileen Spinelli ; illustrated by Nancy Hayashi
Mouse’s First Fall / Lauren Thompson ; illustrated by Buket Erdogan
Fall Leaves Fall / Zoe Hall ; illustrated by Shari Halpern
Oliver Finds His Way / Phyllis Root ; illustrated by Christopher Denise
The Busy Little Squirrel / Nancy Tafuri
Leaf Man / Lois Ehlert
Preschool:
The Cinnamon Hen’s Autumn Day / Sandra Dutton
Fletcher and the Falling Leaves / Julia Rawlinson ; illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke
Bears’ Autumn / Keizaburo Tejima ; translated from the Japanese by Susan Matsui
In the Woods, Who’s Been Here? / Lindsay Barrett George
Flora’s Very Windy Day / Jeanne Birdsall ; illustrated by Matt Phelan
Fall Leaves Storytime
There’s a bit of a nip in the air now, and there are hints of fall color in the trees here and there. Autumn is announcing its arrival! Storytime the week of October 15th will have a fall theme.
And don’t forget that coming up soon on October 30th children are invited to come in costume, if they wish!
